"Across the railroad track lies the historic town square, which has been undergoing revitalization to draw people back to the square’s businesses. A Memorial Pavilion has been built with a gazebo for small musical concerts, a fountain and a veteran’s memorial. Several buildings have been refurbished, including two restaurants, Capers and The Tavern, an antique mall and the county’s chamber of commerce, Panola Partnership. “The Square” is the site of the May Springfest sponsored by Panola Partnership which includes music, games, rides and food for the whole family." ~ Batesville Public Library
