EN: The Uli-Schad-fountain located on a small square on the main street in the center of Oberdorf.
The fountain has a hexagonal basin, on the fountain column is a statue of Uli Schad in chains. On the front side of the basin is engraved: "Peasant leader Uli Schad. He fought and died in 1653 for justice and freedom.."
The Swiss peasant war of 1653 was a popular uprising in large parts of northern Switzerland. It started as a tax revolt in rural Canton Luzern and then spread to Bern, Solothurn, Basel and Aargau. The uprising of the rural areas for equal rights and taxation with the ruling cities was completely defeated by the cities. Many of the leaders were executed. One of the best known leaders was Uli Schad from Oberdorf.
DE: Der Uli-Schad-Brunnen befindet sich auf einem kleinen Platz an der Hauptstrasse im Zentrum von Oberdorf.
Der Brunnen hat einen sechseckigen Trog, auf der Brunnensäule steht eine Statue von Uli Schad in Ketten. An der Vorderseite des Trogs ist eingraviert: "Bauernführer Uli Schad. Er kämpfte und starb 1653 für Recht und Freiheit."
Der Schweizer Bauernkrieg von 1653 war ein Volksaufstand in weiten Teilen der nördlichen Schweiz. Es begann als eine Steuerrevolte in ländlichen Kanton Luzern und breitete sich auf Bern, Solothurn, Basel und Aargau aus. Der Aufstand der ländlichen Gebiete für die Gleichberechtigung und die Besteuerung mit den herrschenden Städten wurde komplett von den Städten besiegt. Viele der Führer wurden hingerichtet. Einer der bekanntesten Anführer war Uli Schad aus Oberdorf.
