The Norman and Lillian Beaton dedicated tree is to the right as you enter the cemetery from Canyon View Drive.

Norman Beaton was born on September 12, 1919 in Paynton, Saskatchewan. He served in the Canadian Air Force from 1939 to 1946 and earned the rank of Flying Officer during which time he met his future wife Lilian.

Lilian Beaton was born in 1920. After her marriage to Norman, they moved to the Beaton family farm until 1968. They had three sons. Lillian passed away in 2008.

Canyon View Cemetery is within the Okanagan-Similkameen Regional District and was dedicated in 1968. There are approximately 18,000 interments.

There is an impressive Veteran section; each gravesite has a cross with the traditions Canadian poppy. We estimate there are over 300 veterans interred here. The poppy was inspired by the poem "In Flanders Fields" written by John McCrae in May 1915.
