Mahanoy Township High School was completed in 1916 and an annex was added 1934. It operated until the end of the school year 1937-1938. On June 19, 1938 it was completely destroyed by fire. It burnt to the ground. It was rebuilt in 1940 and commencement was held in June of 1940.It was used until 1959, when the district merged with Mahanoy City High School and Gilberton to form Mahanoy Area.
