This stark yet evocative memorial was commissioned by the congregation of Ahavath Shalom Synagogue in Fort Worth TX. It stands at the north end of the Ahavath Shalom Cemetery, inscribed with the names of family members of those in this congregation who were murdered in the Holocaust.

The day Blasterz visited, it was difficult to read the names because of all the rocks placed on the memorial, which is the Jewish custom to show respect. We did not move any stones for our photos, and added four of our own. Though we are Roman Catholic, we are united with our friends of Ahavath Shalom in recognizing the horror of this genocide against the Jewish people, and hoping nothing like the Holocaust happens again.

The memorial is made of three pieces of grey granite, in almost an abstract flower shape. The two smaller panels flank an ovoid panel that is perpendicular to a grey granite base with the names of Ahavath Sholom family menbers who died in the Holocaust engraved.

The rest f the memorial text is as follows:

[L panel]

Beloved and Pleasant in their Lives.

In Death, they were not Parted.

II Samuel 1:23

[Center panel]

[Star of David]

IN MEMORY OF

SIX MILLION JEWS

VICTIMS OF THE HOLOCAUST

1939-1945

Man's Inhumanity to Man

[R Panel]
