WARREN AKIN, SR.
Lawyer, minister, politician. Born Elbert County, Georgia, October 9, 1811. Died Cartersville, Georgia, December 17, 1877; buried Cassville Cemetery.

Opened law office in Cassville, Georgia in 1836, argued first case before Georgia's Supreme Court in 1848.

Ordained Methodist Minister and Trustee of Emory College.

From 1861 to 1863 served as Speaker of Georgia House of Representatives, as Confederate Congressman from 1864 to end of the War Between the States.
