DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1959 (CAA) THE STATION IS LOCATED ON TOP OF A PROMINENT HILL ABOUT 5 MILES WEST OF THE CENTER OF NASHVILLE AND 0.4 MILE SOUTH OF CHARLOTTE ROAD (U.S. HIGHWAY 70). IT IS A 4-LEGGED STEEL TRUSS STRUCTURE SUPPORTED BY MANY GUY CABLES, IS PAINTED ALTERNATELY RED AND WHITE, HAS RED FLASHING LIGHT THROUGHOUT ITS HEIGHT AND AN OVERALL HEIGHT OF 1368 FEET. THE FLASHING RED LIGHT 1.0 FOOT BELOW THE TOP OF THE MAST WAS THE POINT OBSERVED UPON. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE WEST STATION POST OFFICE AT 4507 CHARLOTTE ROAD IN NASHVILLE, GO WEST AND SOUTHWEST ON CHARLOTTE ROAD (U.S. HIGHWAY 70) FOR 1.9 MILES TO WATTS LANE ON THE LEFT, TURN LEFT AND GO SOUTH ON WATTS LANE FOR 0.4 MILE TO A LOCKED GATE AND THE STATION ABOUT 100 YARDS SOUTH.
