Our family visited the popular roadside attraction, The Oregon Vortex and House of Mystery and noticed a sign near the entrance to the attraction that read:

IVES and HYDE
MINERAL SPRING
Discovered During the Original
Survey of This Locality 1854

Below the sign is another sign that mentions gold as first being discovered along Sardine Creek in 1854.

There was only a trickle of water coming out of the spring and most likely due to the drought conditions that the state has faced the past few years. be sure to visit the Oregon Vortex, it's a hoot!
