Petree Plaza - El Reno, OK - Municipal Parks and Plazas on Waymarking.com

Petree Plaza is located on the southeast corner of Sunset and Choctaw in downtown El Reno. This is a quarter-block area with grass and a few trees, bisected by brick walkways. On the southeast corner is a beautiful wood gazebo which hosts several local functions each year. On the northwest corner is a small memorial for Margaret Petree.

The plaza was designed and constructed by the Public Works Department of the City of El Reno in 1993, and donated pavers along two walls are recognition of the businesses and individuals who funded its construction.

The plaza is a focal point of El Reno activities, including El Reno's "Small Town Weekend" celebration each May, which includes games and contests. In early December, the plaza is the site of the community Christmas tree, with its lighting ceremony in early December.

At the northwest corner of the plaza is a small memorial gazebo with granite plaques - one honoring Margaret Petree, the others recognizing donors to the plaza.
