Isla de Ometepe, or Ometepe island is surrounded by lake Nicaragua, and it is formed by two volcanoes, Conception and Maderas. The origin of it's name cames from the Nahuatl words ome (two) and tepetl (mountain), which means two mountains.

Ometepe’s humid and cloud forests, which are the largest remaining in Nicaragua’s Pacific region, supports a large diversity of habitats and wildlife, in a comparatively small area.
