This monument is dedicated to Manigault's South Carolina Brigade Marker and is in recognition of their service during the
Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863.
It marks their location on Sunday 20, 1863 at about 6:00 P. M. The commander was
Col. James F. Pressley. There is only one monument to the Manigault's South Carolina Brigade on the battlefield.
To reach this monument:
From the parking area on Snodgrass Hill, head west pass the monuments on the hilltop. A trail will continue to the west near the 87th Indiana and the 2nd Minnesota monuments. Follow this path until you reach a clearing.

Monument contributes to nat'l significance of park under NR Criterion A because it represents the national movement among veterans & related groups to commemorate Civil War battlefields. This was the first U.S. national military park.

Short Physical Description
A simple, rectangular, rock-faced block mounted on a rock-faced base, 3' wide x 2' high x 1.5' deep, with a smooth-faced area on the top that carries an inscription. Marks regiment's position before 6:00 pm on September 20, 1863.
