The box has a colorful depiction of Gary Cooper on the long sides, a full body shot, and unlike others in the series, the colors are fairly normal. Background is sky blue up top and brown below, both of the short sides do not feature Cooper at all, just the background colors. The top of the box is plain blue. The Signal Art Program was implemented in 2007 to enhance the City’s Art in Public Spaces Program. The program works with local artists to design original artwork for traffic signal boxes located throughout the City and serves as an outdoor "gallery" with rotating exhibits that change approximately every three years. The North Richland Hills Signal Art Program was featured on CBS 11 News in June 2014 and has attracted national attention.
The most recent exhibit, entitled “Hollywood Film Cowboys”, was installed in the Fall of 2013 on 10 signal boxes. The theme of classic film cowboys allows residents and visitors to discover western icons of the past as they make their way through the city. The colorful images include variations on the Hollywood portrayal of the hero cowboy from John Wayne to Clint Eastwood, Paul Newman and Yul Brynner.
