HIGHEST - Benchmark in Pennsylvania - Mt Davis - Superlatives on Waymarking.com

Many mountain peaks sport a benchmark at their highest point. In the case of Pennsylvania's highest point, Mt. Davis has a relatively flat summit, but there are several large boulders - the tallest of which contains a bronze triangulation station disk...at 3213.18 feet.

In the early part of the 20th Century, a platform surrounded this rock where visitors could easily touch/inspect the top of this boulder. The platform was later removed, and in 1975 this benchmark was reset. It is still easy to view this mark, but a bit of climbing is necessary;)
