Theater 11 is a live stage theater dedicated to musicals, dance and comedy. It is located in the neighborhood Oerlikon, next to the convention center.
The theater was built in 1965 and operated under the name "Stadthof 11". After a lean spell in the 1970s, ti changed the concept to concentrate on guest performances of internationally known avant-garde artists, called "Theater 11" but also using other locations in the city. In the 1980s there was a growing competition in this fields and the location as well as the brand name lost importance.
In 1997 a new company rented the venue and concentrated on musical and dance productions.
The building was renovated and extended from 900 to 1500 seats in 2006.
