"St Swithun's is built mainly in the Decorated style, with a Perpendicular recessed spire and north porch. The chancel ceiling was painted by Pugin in 1841 while on a visit to the Reverend Bernard Smith. A general restoration took place in 1861 by J H Hakewill.
The tower is of four stages with a battlemented parapet. In the angle between the chancel and the vestry is a battlemented stair turret, and the openings for the rood-stair can be seen in the south-east corner of the nave. A piscina can be found in the chancel, and another in the north aisle.
Stained glass in this church dates to circa 1500-25 and consists of a Te Deum Window purchased in Belgium in 1827 by the Reverend at the time, probably originating from a Rouen atelier (workshop). It represents the Lord's Session in Glory, three-fold office of Christ: Priest, King and Prophet."
