This monument to the 63rd Tennessee Infantry Regiment, commanded by Lieut. Col. Abraham Fulkerson and Maj. John A. Aiken is in recognition of their service during the during the Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. There is only one monuments to the 63rd Tennessee Infantry Regiment on the battlefield.

Short Significance Description:

Monument contributes to national significance of park under NR Criterion A because it represents the national movement among veterans & federal government to commemorate Civil War battlefields. This was the first U.S. national military park.

Short Physical Description

1'6" wide x 1' deep x 3' high, the marker is a rectangular block of smooth-faced Tennessee gray marble inscribed on the front. Marks the unit's position on September 20, 1863, at 5:30 p.m.
