From STAFF REPORTS

The Ennis Rotary Club will mark a special occasion at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, with a ribbon cutting for its Centennial Bridge project, located on the Bardwell Trail at Lake Bardwell.

The ribbon cutting is being held in conjunction with National Public Lands Day activities sponsored by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. James Chambers of the Corps will conduct an opening ceremony at 9 a.m. at the group shelter in Waxahachie Creek Park. After the opening ceremony, the Rotarians will go to the bridge site for the ribbon cutting and Rotary Centennial ceremony for the official opening of the bridge. To reach the Bardwell Trail parking lot, go west on U.S. Highway 34. After crossing the Lake Bardwell bridge, look for Bozek Lane on the right, about one mile past the bridge. Bozek Lane leads into Waxahachie Creek Park.
