[EN] Uslar is a town and a municipality in southern Lower Saxony, Germany, in the south-western part of the district of Northeim, and in the south of the hills of Solling forest which are part of the Weser Uplands.
Uslar is located on the German Timber-Frame Road.
[DE] Das Uslarer Wahrzeichen ist das in der Innenstadt stehende 1476 nach einem Brand wieder neu erbaute frühere Rathaus mit Fachwerk und nachträglich aufgesetztem kupfernem Uhrturmdach. Direkt neben dessen Haupteingang sitzt ein in Stein gehauener Löwe auf einem Steinsockel, dessen Zähne weiß bemalt sind und der ein gotisches Wappen hält, auf dem ein goldenes „V“ (lateinisches „U“) auf blauem Grund dargestellt ist. Ein Rathaus wurde zuerst 1406 erwähnt. 1476 wurde die Osthälfte dieses zweigeschossigen Gebäudes erbaut, während der Westteil zwischen 1650 und 1655 errichtet wurde, was z. B. an unterschiedlichen Konsolen ersichtlich ist. Das Rathaus wurde von September 1998 bis November 2006 für 5,6 Millionen Euro saniert, wobei die Art der Sanierung nicht nur in der Uslarer Bevölkerung stark umstritten ist.
