The canal is 127.25 miles long and flows from the inland woollen town of Leeds to the coastal sea port of Liverpool, crossing the Pennines along the way. Work on the canal started in 1770 and built in a number of sections and was finally completed in 1816.

The cut mark is in good condition and is on the 2nd stone up from the ground level next to the canal towpath.

The following details were obtained from the OS website and typing the following coordinates 53,44,8.2,W,2,29,27. The listing states that it is a cut mark, but as can be seen from the pictures it’s actually a Cut Mark with PA Bolt.
