The American Legion Ellig-Stauffer Post 31 in east Fort Smith AR greets visitors with a touching war memorial and a big gun.

The artillery on static display is a M1A3 with M1 Carriage 57mm carriage gun, which dates from 1943.

A plaque at the gun reads as follows:

"M1A3 with M1 Carriage

Built 1943 by the John Deere Company of Moline Illinois
Restored July 2010 as a Boy Scouts of America Eagle Leadership Project by Nichols Flocks
