Designed by CNR Architects in Winnipeg, this Canadian National Railway depot was completed in 1927. Designated a National Heritage Railway Station on April 6th, 1992, it stands along the railway tracks north of Lorne Street, now a pub and restaurant.
When passenger service was discontinued a few decades ago the station was taken over by the city. They leased the building to the Culos Group who gave the station a multi-million dollar facelift and built Station Plaza around it. This clock was part of the new plaza and stands near the centre of the open plaza in front of the station. It's a single faced clock with the face oriented toward the shops across the plaza.
Inside a large brick planter, the brick clock tower rests atop four double steel posts. The tower and the heavy roof with large brackets supporting a large overhang are all made to blend with the architecture of the station itself.
