This Blue-Star memorial highway marker sits in front of the old Batesburg-Leesville High School, a national historic landmark. This Blue Star marker when placed, was set in the middle of what the locals call "no mans land", the area between the towns of Batesburg and Leesville. In 1996 the two towns voted to merge and form the current town of Batesburg-Leesville
