Sady byly založeny roku 1893 v západní cásti tehdejšího dvora usedlosti Nigrinka. Jméno po Svatopluku Cechovi dostaly ješte za jeho života v roce 1903, od roku 1924 je v parku umísten jeho bronzový pomník s kamenným podstavcem od Jana Štursy.

The park was established in 1893 in the western part of the former homestead Nigrinka. Name after Svatopluk Cech it received during his life in 1903, since 1924 there is located his bronze memorial on the stone pedestal by Jan Štursa.
