This three-story brick building dates to 1790 - the date "1790" can be seen at the corner left of the main entrance. In the 1850's, the house was extensively remodeled to an Italianate style, both externally and within, a move repeated in several historic homes in Dover. As a result of the remodel, the house features an Italianate style molded cornice.

Joshua Fisher, who built the house, served in the Delaware Legislature in the 1790s. The house is considered a historic contributing structure in the Dover Green Historic District.
