This is another place we had driven past more than once while in Grand Forks, yet never seemed to notice that there was a huge ice cream cone on the roof.

Maybe it had just arrived and previously there had been no ice cream cone to see. Yeah - I like that story, so we'll stick with it.

AHA - We were right, according to their Facebook Page, the big cone was mounted on June 27th of this year. Apparently Smilez itself is relatively new to this location, but we seem to remember an ice cream place being here in years past. Chalk it up to well aged memories.

This foam or fibreglass (we suspect fibreglass) ice cream cone is atop Smilez, THE place for the largest variety of ice cream flavours in Grand Forks. It's on 19th Street just north of Highway 3, and just before 19th Street melds with Donaldson Drive.

We were in somewhat of a hurry that day so we didn't stop for a cone (that time).
