Recently several California parks have closed due to drought and limited water supply. There are 69 sites, 5 for tent only. One group site. The Van Damme family was of Flemish descent and worked in logging until closure of the mill in 1893. Charles Van Damme sold/ gave the 1831 acres to the State of Calif. in 1934.
It has hiking trails, is part of the State Marine Conservation Area, and has pygmy forests of cypress and pine (eight feet tall).
