Als der Alte Dessauer den Nordflügel des Stadtschlosses entfernen ließ, war der Hof für die Stadtbewohner offen. Daher wurde dieser Eisenzaun mit insgesamt 4 Toren gesetzt. Die beiden mittleren Tore, waren für Kutschen und die äußeren für einzelne Passanten angelegt.
Mit der Zerstörung der Stadt Dessau am 7. März 1945 wurden das Stadtschloss und der Zaun zerstört. Allerdings konnten der Zaun mit den Toren, sowie der West-Flügel (Johannbau) restauriert werden.
As the Old Dessauer was remove the north wing of the City Palace, the Court for the townspeople was open. Therefore, this iron fence was set with a total of 4 goals. The two central goals were for carriages and created the outer for individual passers-by.
With the destruction of the city of Dessau on March 7, 1945, the City Palace and the fence were destroyed. However, the fence with the gates, and the West Wing (Johann) could be restored.
