This pub sign shows a cockerel standing on a bottle of cider and hangs outside the pub on Halkett Place although most people would consider the main entrance to be in the Royal Square.

The Cock & Bottle is an old name for a pub and traditionally indicates that the pub sold both barrels of beer and bottled beer. The cock was the name of the spigot used to draw of beer from the barrel.
The picture shows the cockerel standing on a bottle of cider, a long established industry in Jersey. It is in the form of a sketch and shows them in a field in a very rural setting, rather then the built up setting of the pub in the capital of Jersey.
The pub has been on this site since at least 1834.
