Centerton was a small, self-sufficient town until the larger towns began to grow, fueled by the presence of some really big businesses, such as a large retailer and a large trucking company, etc. Now this town continues to grow, but as a bedroom community. Its businesses having moved to the larger cities to the east. This large water tank serves the need of this growing community.
