It was built by the Concord and Claremont railroad serving the junction of 2 early railroads, the Concord and Clarmont RR and Contoocook Valley RR. It is one of the earliest and least altered examples of train depots from the 1850 period in New Hampshire. Today the depot serves as a museum opening during the summer months for the Contoocook Famrers Market.
