Cut benchmark with bolt, Holy Trinity Church, Ashby-de-la-Zouch.
The church opened in 1840 as "a chapel of ease" to the nearby mother church of St Helen's. The new church was needed mainly because the population of Ashby had doubled between 1801 and 1830. A spire, added later, was built with more haste than sound construction and deemed unsafe. It was taken down in 1899 and rebuilt.
