Growing behind the Waxahachie Chautauqua Building in Getzendaner Park (400 S Grand Ave, Waxahachie, TX) is an oak tree with ties to the Father of Texas, Stephen F. Austin.

There are many of these little oaks to be found throughout the state, and in front of this one is a granite marker with the state seal and the following inscription:

Stephen F. Austin Oak Tree

This oak tree was grown from an acorn from 300 year old oak trees on the home site of Stephen F. Austin, the Father of Texas, in West Columbia, Brazoria County, Texas.
