These six markers were placed in the 1830s. The painted cast iron markers were forged at John Snowden's foundry in Brownsville, Pennsylvania. He had a contract to create makers from Brownsville, Pennsylvania to Wheeling, Virginia (now West Virginia). All the markers are on the north side of the highway and a few feet from the roadway pavement.
The coordinates listed above are for the furthest west marker (No. 8).
