Cast iron mile marker on the National Road near Valley Grove, West Virginia.

The cast iron mile marker was placed along the National Road in the 1830's. The 55 1/2 inch tall makers were were forged at John Snowden's foundry in Brownsville, Pennsylvania. The marker is located along the north side of the road in a residential area.
