The courthouse houses the local arm of the British Columbia Provincial Court. In this building Initial Appearances Hearings and Arraignment Hearings are held once a month. Initial Appearances are held at 9:00 in the Initial Appearances Room 110 while Arraignment Hearings are held once a month at 9:30 in Courtroom 143. Specific days are TBA.
This courthouse would have been built about 1955. Cranbrook's original courthouse, a three storey wood frame building, was demolished in that year.
This court also conducts Family Court, Small Claims Court and Criminal Court.
