Die auch Schlosskirche genannte Klosterkirche ist der einzige erhaltene Rest des im Dreißigjährigen Krieg zerstörten Augustiner-Eremiten-Klosters und ging aus dessen Klosterkirche hervor. Die das Kirchenschiff trennende Tordurchfahrt wurde mit dem Bau eines Schlosses der Herzöge von Sachsen-Zeitz im südlichen Teil des Geländes 1674 angelegt. Neben der Klosterkirche beginnt der Stadtpark, dessen Zugang ein Herkulesbrunnen ziert. Der Weg führt entlang der alten Stadtmauer bis zu dem Rest eines Wehrturmes. Der angrenzende Stadtpark entstand aus dem ehemaligen Klostergarten.
