I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey azimuth mark from 1947 in good condition, although the concrete post this disk is monumented in has eroded severely on all four corners. There is no witness post to make recovery of this disk easier. Both reference marks and the triangulation station to this RYE series were recovered in good condition as well. The NGS datasheet info is acceptable for station recovery with the exception of the Pioneer Club that no longer exists. My posted coordinates should place you very close to this AZ Mark.

NGS datasheet info (Azimuth Mark in bold):

AZIMUTH MARK IS LOCATED 0.35 MILES WEST OF THE STATION, DIRECTLY ACROSS THE HIGHWAY FROM THE WEST ENTRANCE OF THE PIONEER CLUB, 12 METERS SOUTH OF THE LINE OF CENTER OF THE HIGHWAY, AND PROJECTING 1 INCH ABOVE THE SURFACE OF THE GROUND. A STANDARD REFERENCE MARK DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A 12 INCH SQUARE CONCRETE POST, AND STAMPED RYE 1947. TO REACH FROM THE JUNCTION OF HIGHWAYS 299 AND 395 IN ALTURAS, GO WEST ALONG HIGHWAY 299 FOR 6.1 MILES TO A SLIGHT RISE WHICH IS ABOUT 0.3 MILE EAST OF THE PIONEER CLUB. THIS IS THE STATION SITE.

01/01/1968 by USAF (MONUMENTED) RECOVERY NOTE BY US AIR FORCE 1968 STATION, AZIMUTH MARK AND REFERENCE MARKS WERE RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. DUE TO A CHANGE IN THE HIGHWAY JUNCTION OF U.S. HWY 395 AND STATE HIGHWAY 299 IN ALTURAS, CALIFORNIA, THE MILEAGE FROM THE FORENAMED INTERSECTION TO THE STATION IS 5.9 MILES. NOTE--REFERENCE WAS MADE TO THE PIONEER CLUB. THE CLUB HAS SINCE BEEN DESTROYED, THOUGH THE FOUNDATION REMAINS.
