General American Transportation Company rail car #96500 built in 1965 was built for experimental purposes to transport anhydrous ammonia and LP gas. It was capable of carrying 60,200 gallons and weighs 220 tons fully loaded. It is 96' 7 5/8" long. The Association of American Railroads has since then adopted a max length of 89'.
