This is an Oliver Clip - Cut Mower, the first mower designed by Oliver. It was manufactured by the Oliver Farm Equipment Company, a merger of the Hart-Parr Tractor Works, Nichols & Shepard, Oliver Chilled Plow Works and the American Seeding Company in 1929. They produced both tractor and horse drawn models, this one designed to be drawn by two teams. Both models were ground driven. The major improvement in this design was the enclosing of all the gears, ensuring longer life by protecting them from dust and dirt and running them in an oil bath. An added benefit was the prevention of the crop's getting tangled in the gears, somewhat reducing the amount of profanity required to operate this machine.

It is one of the many pieces of agricultural machinery on display at the Museum. Though there is a $5.00 charge to view the main building's displays, the outdoor displays are free to view and available all year. The museum building is closed from October through April.
