První kostel v Chanovicích byl již v polovine 13. století. Pravdepodobne za husitských válek byl zdejší kostel opušten a jeho cinnost byla obnovena koncem 15. století. Rod Chanovských z Dlouhé Vsi nechal kostel prestavet a znovu vysvecen byl v roce 1688. Dalších úprav se dockal po roce 1717, kdy chanovické panství získal Ferdinand Jáchym Rumerskirch. Za jeho patronátu bylo pristaveno nové oratorium, sakristie, vznikla nová kazatelna a byly provedeny další úpravy interiéru. Roku 1751 byla v Chanovicích obnovena fara. V roce 1781 poškodil kostel požár. Opravy kostela dále probehly v 19. i ve 20. století. Dnes je kostel filiální, spadá pod farní úrad ve Velkém Boru.

The first church in Chanovice was in the 13th century. Probably in the Hussite wars, the church was abandoned and its activity was restored in the late 15th century. The church was rebuild and re-consecrated in 1688. Other modifications were after 1717, when Chanovice estate acquired Ferdinand Joachim Rumerskirch. In 1781, a fire damaged the church. Repairs church also held in the 19th in the 20th century.
