If you like your railfanning in remote places, this one should be fairly suitable. Close enough to freeway access and the town of Yermo to satisfy most needs but remote enough so that you don't have to put up with any other traffic or people's unruly kids. Nice and peaceful so you can hear the rumble of approaching diesels for minutes before you can spot them. Found this spot while searching out some benchmarks in the immediate area. Parking is definitely not a problem. You can park just about anywhere at a safe distance from the rails.

These unit trains of coal, headed to one of the few Southern California plants that still use that fuel, are about to become a fixture of the past. California (or Los Angeles) has set a deadline for aquiring all of its electricity from non-coal sources.
