The St. Paul Cemetery dates to 1828 at the founding of the St. Paul parish. The current church building was built in 1860. The church is considered the mother church for Roman Catholics in northeast Missouri, southeast Iowa and western Illinois. The cemetery remains active though the church closed in the 1960s. Both the church and the cemetery are well maintain.
The cross was placed in 2003. Below the cross is a plaque inscribed:
