The television tower on St. Chrischona was built in 1980-84 east of Bettingen. With a hight of 250 meters it is the highest freestanding structure of Switzerland and a well-known landmark of the area.

The tall three-legged structure also contains two water tanks with a capacity of 100 m3 each for the water supply of Bettingen. The tanks are in a height of 103 meters in an northern appendix to the tower that looks like a "backpack". The weight of the water had to be considered during construction, so the tower stood inclined to the south before the tanks were filled.
