Asteroid 5505 is named after Copenhagen's original university astronomical observatory built in 1642 at the top of a tower.

The tower (The Round Tower in English) was built by King Christian IV for Copenhagen University and was one of Europe's first national observatories. It has an internal helical ramp that was installed to allow equipment to be carried up to the top of the tower by by horse and cart.
It operated as the university observatory until 1861 and these days is used by amateurs and open to the public between October and March.
Asteroid 5505 Rundetaarn
This asteroid is a main-belt asteroid discovered on November 6, 1986 by Poul Jensen at Brorfelde. It has an orbital period of 1777.6666407 days (4.87 years).
At the time of the discovery Brorfelde was Copenhagen University's then current observatory. It has since been replaced by the Rockerfeller Complex although Brorfelde is still used by students.
According to Wikipedia Poul Jensen has discovered a total of 98 asteroids.
