The
Slocan Valley Rail Trail comprises 50 km. of what was once the Slocan Valley Railway, running from the CPR mainline at South Slocan in the south to Nakusp on Upper Arrow Lake in the north. It runs up the Slocan Valley alongside the Slocan River, which empties into the Kootenay nearby. Along the trail are several entry points, usually at the small towns that line the valley. The Rail Trail itself goes only to Slocan City on Slocan LAke, about one third the length of the old railway.
As well as an area map, the kiosk at the trailhead has information on the hydroelectric facilities on the Kootenay River, just across Highway 3A from this trailhead.
Parking is available at this trailhead.
