The modern harbour of Malmo was built in 1775 and this bridge erected in 1885.
It crosses a small river leading into the harbour and connected a wharf that held the Fisktorget (Fish Market) to the main part of the harbour.
There is a plaque on the bridge with the name and date of erection. It also has the Malmo coat of arms on it.
The deck of the bridge is made from wooden planking. These days the industry at the port has declined and only pedestrians and cyclists use the bridge.
