Cottonwood Falls Park is a secluded little park on Cottonwood Creek, off the end of Railway Street, which runs up from near the old Railroad Station. At the upper end of the park is Cottonwood Creek Falls, which in the spring is a pretty impressive waterfall.
In the park is a Japanese Garden, created as a dedication to the sister city arrangement created between the cities of Nelson, BC and Shuzenji, Japan. In the park are this polished granite monument and an Isidooroo (Japanese Stone Lantern), the two being gifts from Shuzenji to Nelson on the occasion of Nelson's Centennial and the 10th anniversary of the Sister City relationship. The gifts were formally presented to the city of Nelson on August 1st, 1997.
