"The acorns of this decidiousm tree were a food staple for Natoive Americans. The Ohlone would harvest the accorns, grind them into flour, rinse the meal ti leach the bitterness and bake into bed. The outer parts of the dough were used to make soap. juice from the galls on the Vlley Oak was diliuted and used for eyewash. It was also made into a black dye."
