Copperton was founded as a company town for the Utah Copper Company in 1926 to alleviate cramped housing conditions in Bingham Canyon where the open-pit copper mine was located. The company established a nice park in the community for its employees in 1927 as evidenced by the dates at the two ends of this arch.
