In Boston, within the Grove Street Jewish Cemeteries, is this broken column gravestone for John Henry Phillips.

To get to the column, from Grove Street, near the line between Boston and Dedham, turn east in to the entrance to the Jewish Cemeteries (to the north are two entrance to St Mary's Cemetery). on Jeshurun Street. Follow the narrow road to the end where there is a turnout and a brick chapel. Walk southwest toward the stone wall border to the cemetery. The gravestone is within a few rows of the edge of the cemetery. Unfortunately, there are no path markers to provide more detailed directions.

The marker is made of mottled marble material. The base is square and is wider than the rest of the column. There are English words on the norhtwest side, and Hebrew words on the southwest side. I don't know Hebrew. I'm assuming that the text is the same in both languages.

The side I can read says the following:

"In memory of our beloved brother John Henry Phillips
Died Dec 29 1895
E 21Ys 11 Ms 7 Ds
May his soul rest in peace
Phillips"

At the 'break' on top areHebrew letters that I don't know.

I don't know anything more about the stone. None of the graves nearby are to the Phillips family.
Headstone/Monument Text:
In memory of our beloved brother John Henry Phillips Died Dec 29 1895 E 21Ys 11 Ms 7 Ds May his soul rest in peace Phillips
